IMPORTANT: This is a completely self-directed course. There are no classes or tutorials, and no contact or support with a tutor. You can book half hour consultations with Marina Barcenilla at an additional cost if required.


You will study:

  • Essential knowledge about perfume ingredients to ensure that you work in a safe manner and to help you set up your working space.

  • Learn to smell like a perfumer and to evaluate perfumery ingredients and fragrances.

  • Learn to classify ingredients according to their origin and odour profile.

    Perfume ingredients studied: bergamot, juniperberry, lavender, red mandarin, pink grapefruit, ho sho, clove bud, jasmine Grandiflorum, litsea cubeba, neroli, rose Damascena, ylang ylang, amyris, frankincense, oakmoss, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver.

  • Learn how to create basic accords and harmonious perfume blends. Create your own perfume.

You’ll need to provide your own perfumery ingredients but we’ll be happy to share with you our list of recommended suppliers. Additionally, a subsidised perfumery kit is available to students who sign up for any of our courses. You can see the contents HERE.
